We are approaching winter and the busy festive season … it can be a struggle to juggle all the demands, but by having inner light to guide us, maybe we can keep hold of our heart’s values.
In winter, nature has ‘gone to ground’ Humans wrap up and need to hug for warmth. We move inwards as the days darken, seeking warmth in our inner fire, the fire that we kindled from the summer sun, to sustain us during winter. With advent we make ready for a celebration, a birth within us.
The sun’s journey comes to a moment of transition and a turning point at the solstice. We mark the turning by being ready for a new direction in our life.(paraphrased from the book All Year Round).
We can also practice to ‘love thy neighbour’, which can spread love to all humanity, as so famously depicted in Dickens The Christmas Carol, one of my favourite stories at this time of year.
As the redeemed Scrooge is able to say:

Spring Retreat: Maiden, Mother, Wise Woman: The Phases of a Woman’s Life

A transitions of a woman’s life bring celebration and loss, often not acknowledged or supported. Through the support of the myth of Persephone we will explore and honour these phases. The process will be supported through creative methods.
